Meet our Pastor
A message from our Pastor,
"My name is Schell Smith. I was born at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska in August of 1962. I was saved at Fellowship Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas in 1974. I was baptized and lived for God for two years. In high school I backslid on God and lived for basketball. I graduated from Southwest high school in San Antonio, Tx in 1980. In December of 1981 I rededicated my life to the Lord and on May 29th, 1982, I married my high school sweetheart, Marcella. In October 1982 I joined the United States Air Force. In early 1984 God called me to preach. In October 1987 I separated from the military in order to attend Maranatha Baptist College in Wisconsin. In February 1989 I started Victory Baptist Church in Atwater, California which I pastored for 21 years before resigning and handing the reins over to a young preacher out of the church. In 2010 my family moved back to San Antonio so my wife could take care of her aging parents. Since then, I have preached and pastored in junior church at Liberty Baptist Church in San Antonio, Tx. I was also privileged with ministering at Devine Christian Church in Devine Tx as an interim pastor for 6 months from March to August 2015. I was then asked to return to Devine Christian Church in June of 2017. I have been the full-time pastor here since then. God has blessed our time here immensely. The church has grown considerably, and we've had, and are undergoing another building project now. We've gone out into the community to give them the Gospel message and continue to reach the lost for Christ. The Lord has blessed my wife and me with over 40 years of marriage and eight children together. I love to teach and preach the Word of God in order to see soul's saved, baptized, and grounded in the Bible. I have witnessed many individuals' lives changed and helped by the power of God's Word. It is my heart's desire to be a blessing to the church and to minister to God's sheep in whatever way God might choose to use me."
